Three new Nokia smartphones expected to be launched next month: Price, specs

With a few weeks left for the Mobile World Congress 2020 to kick off in Barcelona, fresh reports suggest that HMD Global-owned Nokia brand will unveil Nokia 8.2 5G, Nokia 5.2, and Nokia 1.3 smartphones, a part of its Nokia ‘Original’ series.

According to a report by NokiaMob.net, HMD Global is set to bring a range of Nokia smartphones at MWC 2020, which is scheduled from 24 to 27 February. Citing a source, the site also revealed that the launch of the ‘Original’ series was scheduled to be held on Chinese New Year, which fell on 25 January, but the current outbreak of the coronavirus cancelled all the planned events there. However, apart from speculations, official announcements and features of the new series are yet to be revealed. Until then, below are the expected price and specifications of the three smartphones that are expected of release under the gamut of the Nokia ‘Original’ series.

Nokia 1.3 expected price, specifications:

The Nokia 3.1 is an entry-level smartphone that is expected to cost around EUR 79 (roughly Rs. 6,200).

The expected specifications include 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The smartphone’s design may resemble that of the earlier released Nokia 2.3 The design of the device could be similar to the design of the Nokia 2.3, with the 3D nano-textured plastic cover and plastic frame that could house a relatively large LCD screen (around 6 inches) with a U shaped or tear drop notch. The color palette could be vibrant as seen in Nokia 1 Plus. The MediaTek chipset could be used.

Camera specifications may include a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera along with an LED flash module, as featured on the Nokia C1 last year.

Nokia 8.2 5G expected price, specifications:

If the report is to believed, the Nokia 8.2 smartphone may come at an unexpectedly inexpensive price tag of EUR 459 (roughly Rs. 36,000). The global pricing of the smartphone is yet to be revealed, though.

The Nokia 8.2 base model can come with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, while the limited edition might have the 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB internal storage. The smartphone is rumpured to be powered by the Snapdragon 765, which is the first one to come with the integrated 5G modem.

Camera specifications may resemble the design and module of Nokia 7.2 but the device is may house a 32MP front pop-up camera and the battery will have the capacity of around 3500 mAh. The site also mentioned that the Nokia 8.2 may come with 3.5mm headphones jack, and a “laterally placed” fingerprint scanner and wireless charging facility.

Nokia 5.2 expected price and specifications:

The third smartphone in the Nokia ‘Original’ series is the Nokia 5.2. The smartphone is rumoured to cost EUR 169 (roughly Rs. 13,300) for the base model.

The site highlighted that the Nokia 5.2’s base model will house 3GB RAM+32 GB internal storage (for all) but some select countries may get the 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage configuration. The 6.2″ LCD screen smartphone may be powered by SD 632 processor. The Nokia-focussed site also revealed the colour options and they would be Ceramic Black, Ice, same as that of the Nokia 6.2 smartphone.

Camera specifications include 16+8MP rear camera set up. The selfie camera is set to 8 MP.

It is important to note that the Finnish smartphone maker has not officially announced any details of these Nokia smartphones and we are eagerly waiting for some official announcements that will set to be take place on the upcoming MWC.
